First-Year Students
If you are still in high school when you apply, you will fill out the self-reported coursework grid for grades 9-12 as part of your application.
If there is an error or if something presents as unclear at the time of application, you may be required to submit an official high school transcript before a decision can be made. This request will be sent via email.
If you are no longer in high school, you are required to submit an official high school transcript at the time of application.
Homeschooled students: Documentation for coursework completed through homeschool education, along with required supplemental test results, must be submitted officially. Consult the Homeschool Policy.
Senior Year Coursework - If you have been asked to submit your senior year coursework, please fill out the Senior Year Information form.
Unofficial Transcript - If you have been asked to submit an unofficial transcript, please send it to uwtinfo@uw.edu
Final transcripts
If you are admitted and choose to enroll, you must submit official final high school transcripts at the end of your senior year. Final college transcripts are also required for applicants who completed any college coursework. Verification that all admission requirements have been satisfied will be confirmed at that time, and the offer of admission will be withdrawn if important discrepancies are discovered.
Final transcripts must be submitted after all grades have been recorded and are due mid-July, or as soon as they are available. Transcripts of coursework completed during the summer after high school graduation must be submitted no later than September 1.
If you have a transcript from outside of the U.S., you must submit your official high school transcripts, along with official English translations of these transcripts (if they are in a language other than English) at the time of application. These must be original records directly from those schools, not as recorded on a U.S. high school transcript.
Transfer Students
You are required to submit official college transcripts at the time of application from each college attended. College enrollment includes course work attempted or completed during summer school; through distance or online learning; and through Running Start programs or other dual-enrollment programs in conjunction with a regionally accredited college or university. *Students with UW coursework do not need to submit UW transcripts, as we can access these records.
You will also be required to submit official high school transcripts if you have earned fewer than 40 transferable quarter credits at the time of application.
Final official transcripts are required once projected course grades have been posted and prior to the start of classes at UW Tacoma.
What makes a transcript "official"?
A transcript is considered official if it bears the official seal and authorizing signature of the issuing institution and is:
-
Sent directly by the school to UW Tacoma either by mail or via an approved, secure electronic process.
OR
-
Sealed in an envelope by the school with the official seal or authorizing signature of the issuing institution on the sealed flap, and is mailed or delivered to UW Tacoma by you. If you open the envelope, the transcript is no longer considered official.
Transcripts from outside the U.S.
If you have attended a high school, college, university or post-secondary school outside of the U.S. we will need official transcripts from that school, along with a word-for-word English translation if the transcript is not in English. If we are not able to accurately evaluate those transcripts we reserve the right to require a course-by-course evaluation from AACRAO or a NACES-approved educational credentialing service such as WES or FIS.
